Killian Stokes, Founder and Head of Business Development
Killian Stokes – Co-Founder and Head of Business Development

Killian co-founded MyGoodPoints.org having recognised the opportunity the growing communication networks he observed in Africa offer to link donors directly to the recipients of their aid while enhancing efficiency in the charity sector and empowering local communities climb out of poverty by their own means.

For the last decade Killian has been committed to the charity sector having helped set up Aids Partnership with Africa in 2001 and subsequently working as a corporate fundraiser for leading Irish charities Concern and Barnardos. Prior to this Killian worked in the international telecoms and internet industries across Europe, the US and Asia.

Killian is a Vodafone Foundation Ireland World of Difference winner (2009) and an Ireland Funds Dublin Young Leader (2010). He graduated with a degree in Business & Economics from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters in International Relations from Dublin City University.

Sinead Owens, Corporate Relations Manager
Sinead Owens – Partnership Relations Manager

Sinead manages all of MyGoodPoints major corporate and charity relationships. Sinead has been working for Digital Trading Technologies as their Director of Client Relations. Prior to this, Sinead worked with Merrill Lynch International Bank in their London office for over five years. Sinead’s customer facing roles have been extensive within Merrill Lynch - from a relationship manager for specific hedge funds, to a consulting to High Net Worth private clients. Within the Global Wealth Management arena she ran the internal trading desk for Europe, the Middle East and North Africa for a number of years. Sinead completed a graduate internship with the MBNA bank based in Maine, USA and graduated from Portobello Business School Dublin in 2003 with a Honours Degree in Business Studies. In her spare time Sinead is completing the final term of the Tennis Ireland coaching course.

Gordon McConnell – Business Advisor

Gordon McConnell is Deputy-CEO and Director of Business Development for the DCU Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship in Citywest. From 2005 he was as Head of Strategy and Administration in the President's Office in Dublin City University, and had a temporary assignment from 2009-2010 as Director of Programmes for the Ryan Academy.

Gordon has a background in industry, venture capital, strategic consulting and start-ups. He is now the venture manager for the Ryan Academy Venture Accelerator Fund announced in July 2010. Gordon has worked with a range of corporate clients in strategy, particularly in the pre-merger arena, while consulting in Andersen Consulting (Accenture). Gordon has worked in DCU for over seven years, and has also taught a number of subjects at graduate level including entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, organisational management, social enterprise development and the digital economy in a number of higher education organisations including All Hallows College, Dublin City University, Dublin Institute of Technology and the Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship.

Cian Pas – Head of  Design

Cian has worked in the design industry for the past 10 years. He brings a wealth of experience to the table, having worked with major brands ranging from Cuisine de France, Centra, EBS, RTƒ, Irish Life, C and C International, Boots and Diagio to name but a few.

Cian began his career working for IAWs, working on brands such as Cuisine de France, Tim Hortons and La Brea giving him a very strong grounding in consumer related design. Cian went on to work as a senior designer with leading graphic design firm Fuse. After 5 successful years, Cian setup his own graphic design consultancy, Cream Graphic Design. The company has gone from strength to strength with clients ranging from the financial sector, startup businesses and software development. Cream has established itself as one of the leading agencies in designing software interfaces which are built with the end user in mind. They liaise closely with developers in establishing viably intuitive interfaces where both design and functionality work in harmony as opposed to opposition.

Jim Milne – Operations

Jim has over 30 years experience in Product Management, Customer Service and Operations with major corporates as well as startups. He has launched and operated many global products including BT’s Managed Service Portfolio and a Fraud Bureau for the revenue assurance company Subex. He is an avid customer champion and ensures there is a strong customer focus built into all the products and services he is associated with.

 Waqar Shah – Head of Platform Design
Waqar Shah – Head of Platform Design

As Head of Technology, Waqar is responsible for a team of Experienced Software Engineers and he also has the role of System Architect of MyGoodPoints.org application. Waqar began his career in 2001 by designing and implementing commercial databases and web technologies for large Enterprise Clients. He has successfully developed commercially deployed databases and web applications, with scalable system architecture, managing the enterprise level projects, managing IT human resources and complex automated business processes. Waqar is well established in the telecommunications and mobile sector and recently completed a project with a global mobile content supplier. His key strength is the sound understanding of business commercial models and in-depth knowledge of technological frameworks. Waqar studied Computer Science and Software Engineering at The University of Birmingham and achieved a Bachelors in Engineering, he then went on to achieve a Masters in Science for Internet Software Systems (with Distinction).

As Head of Software, Ansar is responsible for managing a team of experienced software engineers and designers of MyGoodPoints.org application. Ansar began his career in 2006 by providing part time IT services and consultancy to several SMEs. He then joined Waqar and formed WaqarTech limited, the company in 2008. Since then he has successfully lead and delivered enterprise level projects. Ansar studied Computer Science from Pakistan and achieved a Bachelors in Computer Science degree.

Darragh Stokes
Darragh Stokes – Business Planning Consultant

Darragh is the Managing Partner of Hardiman Telecommunications with operations in Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Asia. Darragh is responsible for the company’s London-based practice focusing on Telecoms and Technology Business strategies and has previously held a number of senior management positions in the Telecom industry in the US, France, the UK and Ireland.

Sorcha Tunney
Sorcha Tunney – Charity & Donor Relations

Sorcha studied Politics and Greek and Roman Civilization at University. She followed her BA degree by undertaking a MA Degree in International Security and Conflict Studies. After finishing her studies Sorcha worked as a volunteer with Frontline International. She continued her work in this sector with Amnesty International Irish Section, working in the Advocacy, Communications and Education Departments. Sorcha manages the relationships of MyGoodPoints with the charity sector both in Ireland and overseas to ensure projects are appealing and well defined and clearly articulated to the online donor community.

David Madden, Project Manager
David Madden – Project Manager

David works on partner projects at MyGoodPoints and is focused on managing the integration of MyGoodPoints within corporate supporter payroll giving schemes.

David has over fifteen years experience marketing and selling telecommunications products and services to both businesses and consumers in Ireland and Europe. David works as an independent consultant to high technology organizations in Ireland helping them identify customer focused new product ideas, develop product positioning and define clear go-to-market strategies.

Prior to his current position, David held a number of roles in Vodafone Ireland and Vodafone Global Marketing including heading up the Fixed line Product Management for Business customers in Ireland.

Brendan Dowling – Co-Founder and Chairman

Brendan who co-founded MyGoodPoints.org is also the CEO and Founder of Digital Trading (DT). Brendan is a serial entrepreneur in the Telecoms industry having created the first MVNO in Europe, the first mobile content distribution business which he sold to BT. Brendan has a passion for this industry and has worked with Telecoms and Media companies all over the world. Brendan holds an MBA from University College Dublin, a Commerce Degree from University College Cork and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA).

Denis Murphy – Telecom Entrepreneur

Denis started his career in the Irish Defence Forces, notably serving in the Lebanon. With an MBA from UCD, Denis joined Aldiscon in 1992 and has held a number of senior customer facing roles with global brands within the telecoms and internet industries including Apion and Openwave. Since 2002 Denis has established and sold Belfast based company Mobile Cohesion and is currently on the board of a number of technology investments primarily in the mobile space.

Aoife Sexton, Development Fund Advisor
Aoife Sexton, President, Remote Community Solutions, Altobridge

Aoife Sexton has over 18 years experience in international telecoms, both fixed and wireless. Aoife worked for over 12 years with the GSM Association. Spanning 219 countries, the GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem. During her time with the GSMA, she held a number of senior executive positions including that of CEO (acting), and Global General Counsel and member of the senior management team. Prior to her departure from the GSMA in June 2008, she held the position of Senior Director, GSMA Development Fund. The Development Fund works with mobile operators to accelerate mobile solutions for people living on under US$2 per day. Prior to the GSMA, Aoife acted as Legal Counsel to the US telco MFS Communications based in its European headquarters. Aoife is a solicitor and her private practice experience includes the French law firm Siméon & Associés (Brussels) and Eugene F. Collins (Dublin).

Caroline Casey, CEO and Founder of Kanchi
Caroline Casey, Social Entrepreneur and Ashoka Fellow

A social entrepreneur, Caroline sits on the board for several government, business and not-for-profit organisations. Since setting up The Aisling Foundation in 2000, with the aim of enhancing the relationship between disability and society, Caroline has received several high profile awards in recognition of her work worldwide. She was the first Irish person to be appointed a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2006 and was awarded an honorary doctorate from NUI Ireland in the same year. In 2006 she also became the first Ashoka fellow from Ireland and the UK and received the Eisenhower Fellowship. In 2007, Caroline was invited back to the World Economic Forum in Davos, where she presented on a variety of issues relating to the area of disability.

International interest in the O2 Ability Awards, which were launched in 2004, has seen them replicated in Spain this year, through O2’s parent company Telefonica. A former management consultant with Accenture, Caroline is visually impaired to the degree that she is registered as legally blind.

Maura Quinn was appointed as Chief Executive of the Institute of Directors in Ireland in April 2008. As Chief Executive, Maura is responsible for leading the strategic development of the IoD through growing the membership base, expanding the range of programmes and services and building the profile of the organisation.

In September 2008, Maura spearheaded the introduction of the IoD Chartered Director Programme, which is fast becoming the most prestigious director qualification in Ireland. Prior to joining the IoD, Maura was Executive Director of UNICEF Ireland for eleven years, where she was credited with the resurgence, growth and development of the organisation in Ireland. Having operated at a senior level with UNICEF HQ in New York and Geneva, Maura was also elected Vice-Chair of UNICEF’s Standing Group of National Committees, which generate one third of UNICEF’s income worldwide.

Maura is on the Audit Committee of Irish Aid and is also a Board Member of Kanchi. Having studied Law and Marketing, her career has included a range of senior appointments in both the private and not-for-profit sectors.

Tim O Connor, Former Consul General of Ireland in New York & Secretary General to the President of Ireland

Tim has completed a career of 36 years in the Civil Service and has worked in the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissions and the Department of Foreign Affairs. Mr. O'Connor, served as the Consul General of Ireland in New York between 2005-2007 and was subsequently appointed as Secretary General to the President serving from 2007 until 2010.

David Clinch, Former Senior International Editor and Social Media expert at CNN

For 15+ years David worked as part of the management team on the CNN International Desk in Atlanta. David pioneered the use of Social Media for International Newsgathering and played a lead role training CNN staff to use Twitter, Skype and other online services for finding breaking news, guests and content.

In April 2010 David left CNN to consult with a number of companies and organisations wishing to develop a better Social Media and Skype strategy. David is working with Irish journalist Mark Little to launch "Storyful" (www.storyful.com) which will supply professionally curated real-time news streams to businesses and consumers. He is consulting for Skype to help their Media and NGO clients use Skype for live media interviews. He is also launching "WorldAlert" a new global real-time web service to create a platform that will help save lives during Emergencies, Natural Disasters and Humanitarian Crises.

Charles Best, Founder of DonorsChoose.org

Charles Best founded DonorsChoose.org at Wings Academy, a public high school in the Bronx where he was a social studies teacher for five years. He thought up DonorsChoose.org during a lunch conversation with colleagues, and his students volunteered to help start the organization.

DonorsChoose is a US based nonprofit organisation that provides a way for people to donate directly to specific projects at public schools posted by teachers in need. Donorschoose is one of the world's top online donation platforms and to date has raised in excess of $52m to support 3 million school children in America. We do not accept any responsibility for fraudulent use of any account whereby the username and password has been used to access the account.

  3. DONATIONS
    • We accept no responsibility for any use or purpose which your nominated Charity may make in respect of any donation made through this Website. We take no responsibility for your dissatisfaction with the use of your donation to any Charity. If you have cause for dissatisfaction with the use of your donation, you should contact the Charity directly. Without limitation to the above or any other provision of these terms and conditions, we shall have no liability of any kind in circumstances where the Charity ceases to exist, becomes insolvent, stops carrying on operations for any reason, fails to apply any donation in connection with a particular project (or at all) or otherwise misuses any donation from you.
    • There shall be no refund in respect of any donation made through the Website, unless we are satisfied that your credit card has been used without your authorisation. If you become aware of the unauthorised use of your card then you must contact your card issuer in accordance with your arrangement with them.
    • In the event that you fail to access your account at any time for a period of 180 days or more, we shall have the right at our sole discretion to allocate and donate any balance on your account at that time to any Charity on the Website.
    • We do not accept any liability for donations made to organisations which have ceased to have official charitable status as decreed by the Revenue Commissioners, the Commissioners for Charitable Bequest in Ireland and/or Charities Regulatory Authority or any other competent body or authority.
    • We apply an administrative charge to all donations which are received from you through the Website. This charge is currently set at 3% of the donation amount, which charge will be deducted from your donation at the point of transfer to your account.
    • To make payment instructions you must follow the procedures set out on the Website. On receipt of a valid payment instruction from you we will request your credit card company to pay us the amount of the payment instruction (withdrawal). You must ensure that you have sufficient funds available for the payment instruction. We will pay the amount of the withdrawal (less charges) to your specific Website account. You may then use funds available in your Website account to donate to Charities on the Website.
    • If your credit card company does not provide us with the amount of the payment instruction we reserve the right to reverse any related payment made to a Charity or otherwise, and charge you for such a reverse.
